There is a host of reasons that Winter Garden is one of the fastest growing areas in all of Florida. The prime location offers easy access to Orlando (just 14 miles west). However, residents would also tell you there is plenty to do in their own backyard.

Incorporated in 1925, Winter Garden has a long history of being the center of this area’s citrus economy and vast outdoor activity offerings. In fact, legend tells that Clark Gable and Humphrey Bogart visited the legendary Edgewater Hotel in the 1950’s to relax and fish the Lake Apopka waters.

The hotel still stands today after being painstakingly restored. In fact, the original manually operated elevator is in full operation. And this is just a highlight of the appeal of Winter Garden’s connection with its history.

The brick-lined downtown is a haven for early Florida architecture and is a wonderful testament to the town’s personality. Then, of course, there are the parks, trails, and environment-friendly elements. West Orange Trail, known as a “rail trail” follows the path of the very early railroad, and boasts 22 miles of the most scenic areas of the state.

The trail is open to pedestrian, bicycle, and equestrian traffic, and snakes through enormous oaks dripping with Spanish moss. Because of the explosive growth of the area, the choices of homes is vast and varied.

Whether you are looking for new construction or an updated historic gem, you can find waterfront on southern Lake Apopka or John’s Lake. Or, charming tree-lined streets with amazing outdoor spaces to enjoy the sun year round. For those interested in a vacation investment, this offers a prime location to theme parks and the best of outdoor living. From the 1950’s through today, visitors and residents alike adore this town. And, with both the past and present alive and growing, it is easy to see why.
